lf the frequency is high, stirring action will not occur even if
AC voltage is impressed on the inductor and a moving magnetic field
generated. The frequency converter panel is used to convert commercial
frequency (50/60 Hz) to a frequency suitable for stirring molten aluminum
and this is normally 1 to 3 Hz (0.5to 3 Hz for large size units).
This enables realization of ideal stirring action. This is
a self-cooled system using a thyristor (over 300 kVA) and transistor
(under 200 kVA) for conversion. Adjusting and setting of frequency can
also be carried out easily in the panel. |
